| ........On March 28, 1972 I was born in a Santa Ana hospital and given the name Phyllis Beck. My biological parents, both 18 years old, had already prepared to give me over to loving adoptive parents, Joseph and Wendy D'Virgilio. For this I am ever grateful! I grew up in a stable home and have always been supported for my various pursuits and dreams. ----During my senior year of high school I began to seriously question the meaning of life. After exploring many different religions I found Jesus Christ as the only One who had the authority to say, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) I also found Jesus Christ to be the only one that personally loved me enough to die for me, a sinner. I prayed to Him December 1989 to save me and to keep me until the very end. ----In college, the Lord fulfilled my desire for fellowship with other Christians like myself. Those were great times. I went to Humboldt State University for my Bachelor of Science Nursing degree. It was during that time the Lord called me to become a midwife, "God was good to the midwives and established households for them" (Exodus 1:20). I completed my Master of Science Nursing degree from a joint midwifery program with SDSU and UCSD. My professional goal now is to establish a homebirth practice. In this way I can support women in the most fitting environment for a family event, the birth of a child! I praise God for how he has led me thus far. |
